Spend your summer interning they said.
It will be fun they said.
What they did not tell me was how much I would actually learn. I am not talking about software skills or fine tuning a specialization, I am talking big picture. Spending six weeks at a creative agency meant that we put everything up on the wall – mood boards, initial sketches, concepts…and more concepts. Everything goes on the wall, to be discussed, collaborated on, and made better. I loved it. I loved the small but mighty team that I felt comfortable around. We had insightful conversations and so many laughs (because you cannot ever have too many laughs). Working with Magnetry allowed me to experience a quick glimpse into the advertising industry. The hard work and dedication this team shows are things I hope to find after graduation. It is not every day that I get to sit next to the Principal/ECD and the Art Director of an agency. I feel like my work has only improved and the way I approach problems has a fresh perspective. I am grateful to Magnetry for the time and opportunity; what I take with me cannot be measured, or even quite explained. While this was just a quick six-week snapshot of my career, it really helped me grow as an individual and makes me excited for what is to come in just a short year from now.
